    Course overview

    Nursing is a blend of art and science and is a profession focused on the autonomous and collaborative care of mankind.     Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT)

    Course Overview

    DMLT course is designed to prepare students for the most important attribute of allied health care i.e. Laboratory testing. The students are skilled to perform tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This programme equips candidates with the necessary skills required to handle lab equipment and perform accurate laboratory tests. It comprises hands on training of Laboratory methods, techniques and management in the subjects of Biochemistry, Pathology (Histopathology, Clinical pathology, Hematology, Blood banking) and Microbiology. In this course much emphasis is laid on learning of practical skills and behavioral skills along with a basic knowledge of the subject.

     

    Career Prospects in Diploma in Medical Lab Technology

    • Medical lab Technicians can perform complex procedures on tissue specimens, blood samples and other body fluids.
    • A Certified medical laboratory technician may find a career in a hospital, private laboratory, blood donation centers and doctor’s clinic.
    • Laboratory technologists can assist the doctors in taking samples, centrifuging, making slides, using specified stains with proper guidance.
    • Job opportunities are also available in research laboratories and military services.
    • They can also work as laboratory manager/ consultant/ supervisor, health care administrator, hospital outreach coordinator, laboratory information system analyst/ educational consultant/ director, health and safety officer.

    Prof. Bhatia has published several papers in Journals of National and International repute. He was a Visiting Fellow as GNDU, Amritsar, Principal Investigator, CSIR, Collaborating Scientist, PL-480 Scheme, and he is also a Fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences.

     He is a Life Member of Indian Science Congress Association and several other professional bodies.
